Tickets are selling fast for the first in London Review Bookshop's Literary Friendships events, pairing László Krasznahorkai with Colm TóibÃn.
Krasznahorkai's 1985 novel, Satantango, a modern Hungarian classic, was published in English for the first time this year by New Directions and Tuskar Rock in a translation by George Szirtes. His three-decades-long collaboration with director Béla Tarr to adapt the book for screen resulted in an epic 450-minute film.
"You will never go wrong anticipating doom in my books, anymore than you'll go wrong in anticipating doom in ordinary life."
