Fresh from scooping the John Llewellyn Rhys prize, Evie Wyld's After the Fire, a Still Small Voice has been nominated for the Authors' Club Best First Novel Award. The rest of the shortlist comprises Choke Chain by Jason Donald, The Finest Type of English Womanhood by Rachel Heath, The Rescue Man by Anthony Quinn, Designs for a Happy Home by Matthew Reynolds and The Earth Hums in B Flat by Mari Strachan.
The winner of the £2,500 prize will be announced on 7 April.
