Kachi A. Ozumba will be talking about his new book The Shadow of a Smile with Mark Reynolds, commissioning editor of The Drawbridge.
"I have always been drawn to stories that reveal the hidden and darker sides of the societies in which they are set. So when I found myself inside a Nigerian prison awaiting trial for an offence that had never even occurred, I felt an unstoppable urge to write a story that would bring this world, and the incredible lives of its inhabitants, to the outside. I first started writing The Shadow of a Smile, with a pencil, in a small exercise book that had been smuggled in to me."
