Yoneda in Venice

Drawbridge friend and contributor Tomoko Yoneda has been named amongst the 100 or so artists invited to participate in the 52nd Venice Biennale. This year's theme, presented by international curator and critic Robert Storr, is "Think with the Senses, Feel with the Mind" and runs from 10 June to 21 November.

Born in Akashi, Japan in 1965, Tomoko Yaneda now lives and works in London. She has exhibited internationally, including shows at the Nederlands Foto Institut in Rotterdam and at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. Her work is included in various collections: The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and La Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris.

She was chosen to exhibit at the International Triennale of Contemporary Art Yokohama 2005. A book of her series "Between Visible and Invisible" was published by Nazraeli Press, USA in 2004.

Tomoko is married to graphic designer Jon Barnbrook. "Friendly Fire", a retrospective of Jon's work, opens at London's Design Museum 19 June.
